RPGaDay 2025 01: Patron

For the first post of RPGaDAY2025, the prompt is “Patron”. Immediately, I thought of the (only) two Patreons that I support: 3d6DownTheLine and Worlds Beyond Number.

Worlds Beyond Number is a podcast that my spouse and I enjoy greatly. It’s a wonderful narrative-heavy podcast by Aabriya Iyengar, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Erika Ishii, and Lou Wilson. The main campaign to date is run by Brennan, set in a homebrew world. It’s a lovely mix of Studio Ghibli vibes, fey shenanigans, and hardcore politics and war. On the side, they have little mini campaigns every now and then, which tend to be hilarious.

3d6 Down the Line, by contrast, is an old-school RPG podcast. They have had two campaigns so far: Dolmenwood and Arden Vul. For the Patreon, they’re actually returning to Dolmenwood soon with an exclusive campaign I’m particularly looking forward to. They just wrapped up Arden Vul, so the next campaign will be a Mothership story.

I very much enjoy both of these podcasts, and given that I don’t like subscription models for things, it says something that I support these patreons. I highly recommend these for anybody looking to pick up a new podcast.

EDIT: Four days in, I realized I wanted to have random tables for each of the entries, so here’s an edit! In this case, a random list of patrons. Here again, you can roll a die and read down the line or role it three times and get curious combos. I’m always stuck trying to think of names for people, so I figure to make a random name generator.

First roll a d6 to find out how long the name is.

d6 Name Length
1–2 First part only
3–4 First and second Part
5–6 Three-part name
D6 First Part Second Part Third Part
1 Hull Der -Flax
2 Bowder Ton -Smythe
3 Graft Son -St. John
4 Holder Field -Clyde
5 Fields Smith -Ridge
6 Bramper Idge -Parson

Look forward to more RPGaDay posts throughout the month! RPGaDay Setup
